I'm following you tutorial on writing a Hello World boot loader. It's very informative and I've definitely learned a lot. However, there seems to be an error (at least for me) in the last part. In order for the memory fetch at MOV AL, [SI] to work properly I have to set the segment pointers to 0 initialy in the program:

MOV AX, 0x0000
MOV DS, AX
MOV ES, AX
MOV FS, AX
MOV GS, AX

Is this a problem no one else have had? I use nasm on ubuntu Jaunty and the problem was there on two independent laptops booting off of a usb stick.

I plan to use open source OS for village school in India. I do not know much about computers so would like to know that if I plan to use your OS will I need to look for a computer without OS and if so where can I get it as I could not find one DELL HP etc. do not sell without OS

 i want simulate sequenceal file allocation stratgies coding for c in applying in os

 the screenshots looks nice, but your os don't work under VPC or VBox.

I read your article of "HELLO WORLD BOOT LOADER" and I'm really thankful to you. The article is well explained and informative.
it helped me to move ahead for developing a Gaming OS. I made a boot loader that made CD bootable

But sir, there are lot's of hurdles in the way. I have googled a lot but I'm unable to find articles which will tell me how to load your kernel on bootable cd.
or how to access hard disk or USB to create or remove files etc.
In other words I don't have much resources available to study and learn.

Therefore, I need your help to achieve my goal. Sir please tell me the sources from where i can read more and develop further.
