Gartner’s Hype Cycle Special Report for 2009

This is a Hype Cycle Chart, which Gartner is using for past many years now. As is known, it demystifies the Hype and helps find the Right Technology to invest in at the Right Time.

Gartner’s Hype Cycle characterizes the typical progression of an emerging technology, from over enthusiasm through a period of disillusionment to an eventual understanding of the technology’s relevance and role in a market or domain.

Also, It has a very interesting depiction which can be useful to decide “Which Technologies to Invest In & How”… It’s called Priority Matrix.

The Priority Matrix is a tool for prioritizing emerging technologies by forcing technology planners to look beyond the hype and assess technology opportunities in terms of their relative impact on the enterprise and the timing of that impact.
