I’m feeling lucky button is on Google’s homepage since the early days of search engine. This feature will save your time and a click in order to go directly to the result page of your query. Google will take you to the first result of query. Thus it bypass the result page of Google.
Google cofounder Sergey Brin told public radio’s Marketplace that around one percent of all Google searches go through the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button. It bypass the result page completely and thus the advertisements on that page.
Some estimates suggest that Google could be losing $110 million of advertising revenue due to that button because people are skipping results pages that have Google ads.
When asked Google exec Marissa Mayer about this she explained, “It’s possible to become too dry, too corporate, too much about making money. I think what’s delightful about ‘I’m Feeling Lucky’ is that it reminds you there are real people here,”

We never use the feature (much). Why? It often takes us to a competitor’s website instead.
hehe. thats true, that is why they have changed it completely. Now they use auto complete and show the result instantly. :)
We notice that now. Been using Bing Search for awhile as Edge took over as default browser.
